MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS AND COUNSELORS
Psychiatrist The Staff Psychiatrist is responsible for assisting the Staff Physician and the Mental Health Coordinator (MHC) in the management of psychiatric services at the jail so that there is a coordinated and comprehensive service that is integrated with security, medical services and administration.
Qualified candidates must possess a valid license to practice as a physician. in the state where employment is being sought at the time of appointment; and evidence of having completed three (3) years of graduate training in psychiatry in a program approved by the American Medical Association or the American Osteopathic Association. The Psychiatrist should have a minimum of three (3) years previous experience, preferably in a corrections environment, and possess and maintain current CPR certification.

Mental Health Coordinator (MHC) The Mental Heath Coordinator (MHC) is responsible for managing mental health services in a correctional setting while coordinating comprehensive integrated service with security, medical services and administration. The Mental Health Coordinator will also provide crisis intervention, and ongoing monitoring and assessment of inmates, when necessary.
Qualified candidates must possess current licensure in Psychology, Social Work or Counseling in the state where employment is being sought.

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for assisting the Physician and the Mental Health Coordinator (MHC) in the management of the mental health services at the jail so that there is a coordinated and comprehensive service that is integrated with security, medical services and administration. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner also assists in ensuring that there is nursing coverage to the Mental Health Units (if applicable) and appropriate provision of clinical care. Other responsibilities include providing crisis intervention and discontinuing suicide watch on individuals, as needed.
Qualified candidates must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and hold an advanced degree in an approved and accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Candidate must currently be licensed as an RN in the state where employment is being sought and possess current CPR and Medication Certifications. Experience in providing services to a mentally ill and/or correctional population preferred.

Mental Health Professional (MHP) The Mental Health Professional (MHP) is responsible for assisting the Mental Health Coordinator in managing the mental health services at the Facility so that there is a coordinated and comprehensive service that is integrated with security, medical services and administration. The MHP provides crisis intervention and risk assessment for identified inmates, as well as determining the need for immediate, urgent or routine mental health assessment.
Qualified candidates must possess a valid license to practice Social Work in the state where employment is being sought, or be eligible at the Master’s level in Psychology, Social Work or Counseling. The MHP should have at least three (3) years previous experience, preferably in a corrections environment, and possess and maintain current CPR certification.

Case Manager The Case Manager provides ongoing management and maintenance of a schedule of all releases for those inmates followed by the Mental Health Service to ensure aftercare needs are coordinated and/or set up, both for targeted and non-target populations, prior to their release when possible. The Case Manager also gathers and accurately documents demographic and historical information on patients referred by the Mental Health Coordinator (MHC) and/or Mental Health Professional (MHP).
Qualified candidates must possess a Master’s degree from an accredited school in mental health or related field and be currently licensed or in pursuance of license in the state where employment is being sought.

Substance Abuse Counselor The Substance Abuse Counselor (SAC) assists and supports the MHC and Clinical Supervisor (CS) in managing the mental health services at the facility so that there is a coordinated and comprehensive service that is integrated with security, medical services and administration. The SAC also leads substance abuse group sessions, provides treatment and follow-up as per The Recovery Services program contract and under the supervision of the CS.
Qualified candidates must possess current LISAC or LASAC licensures in state where employment is being sought.
